These drums are a modernized version of a Vietnamese instrument called a Mo Nhip.
The drum is a nature inspired Fish Drum from our one-off category. The face of the instrument is painted green and gold. It has a slim strip of rainbow poplar veneer on it that runs down the middle, and there is a walnut head cover that goes around the mallet head. I painted the eyeball mallet silver and left a simple black pupil to keep a natural flow in it's appearance. Half of the eyeball is painted. I choose not to paint the bottoms on the newer or one-off drums.
